With the launch of the FIFA 23 Web App, many players jumped right into Ultimate Team’s SBCs. But the new chemistry system causes headaches – many SBCs are difficult, some challenges seem simply impossible.
Here’s what’s going on with the SBCs: The web app for FIFA 23 was released on September 21st. and offered players the opportunity to solve their first squad building challenges. However, the web app is currently having login problems.
SBCs are always very popular at the start of a FIFA title to exchange the first good players for your team. So you can already build a basis in the web app before the actual FIFA 23 release is due.
However, this year players have to consider a new component.
What are SBCs? SBCs are Squad Building Challenges. These SBCs require you to trade teams with player cards that meet certain requirements. There are then rewards such as packs or players.
Players fight with new chemistry in FIFA 23
What is this system? The well-established and well-known chemistry system was abolished. In FIFA 23 there is a new system that, among other things, introduces three chemistry points for players and ensures that matching players no longer have to play side by side.
You can find out more about the new system here.
This causes problems: While the system has some exciting changes, one thing is making SBCs damn difficult right now: Players only seem to contribute to the chemistry anymore when they’re in their correct position.
A goalkeeper in the storm brings no more chemistry. Just as little a ZOM on ZM – actually a small difference, but it is extremely important in SBCs.
Here you will need position change items. But hardly anyone has them anymore because the official FIFA 23 release of the actual game has not yet taken place.
On the FIFA subreddit, players are already complaining that SBCs get very complicated this way. “Is it just me, or is this insanely annoying and making SBCs with really specific requirements even more difficult?” posted one user (via reddit)
- “Hopefully they’ll make the switch-position cards extra cheap/easy to draw,” hopes one player (via reddit) at least on some simplification.
- “I couldn’t even finish the basic SBCs, lay the SBC for as I don’t have an IV and CM from the same club. This new chemistry system sucks,” rants another (via reddit).
- “I can’t even solve the starter SBCs lmao,” commented one in another thread (via reddit).
Especially now that players are low on coins, it seems like the SBCs are very difficult to solve. That could relax a bit as soon as at least FIFA 23 early access starts and you can earn coins and rewards through matches. However, there are more problems.
Hard SBC really unsolvable?
Among other things, players discuss that some SBCs require you to achieve exact or maximum player chemistry values in order to complete an SBC. In the past, it was usually about “minimum” values.
The problem here is that some of the more difficult SBCs even have requirements that are mutually exclusive. EA seems to have miscalculated itself here.
For example, there is a challenge that requires 11 players as a requirement, but they may have a maximum of one chemistry point. However, the overall chemistry of the team should be 18 – that doesn’t add up mathematically.
The last “Hybrid Nations” SBC is also such an example. Every player should have exactly 2 chemistry points, but the entire team should have 24. It doesn’t work here either (via reddit).
This is obviously an error that cannot be intended in this way. So currently, don’t plan on ending the SBCs until the issue is corrected. In addition, the rewards from these starter SBCs are not tradeable this year and cannot be used in the market. You should also note that beforehand.
In addition to the web app, the FIFA 23 Companion App will also start – all information can be found here. There you can also try the new SBCs.
